In the News: Good Morning America visits SC Johnson in Racine, Wisconsin

02/05/2026

ABC’s Good Morning America (GMA) recently visited SC Johnson’s world headquarters in Racine, Wisconsin, spotlighting two of the company’s most historic and innovative spaces. The visit was part of “America the Beautiful: 50 States in 50 Weeks,” a yearlong series leading up to the nation's 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026. The series showcases local stories, community figures, and the history of each state in the order they joined the United States.

Representing the state of Wisconsin, the segment featured SC Johnson’s iconic Great Workroom, designed in 1936 by architect Frank Lloyd Wright. This architectural landmark remains a symbol of SCJ’s long-standing commitment to innovation and workplace excellence. Today, people from around the world travel to Racine to visit SC Johnson and experience its historic design firsthand.

GMA also toured the SC Johnson Center for Insect Science and Family Health™, established in 1957 and still one of the largest private, urban entomology research centers in the world. This world-class research facility is where experts develop trusted household insecticide and personal repellent brands such as OFF!®Raid®, and Baygon®, and conduct applied entomology research to analyze the behavior of insects.

For nearly 70 years, SCJ scientists have advanced insect science with a clear mission: protecting families from insectborne diseases, such as malaria, dengue, chikungunya, Zika, leishmaniasis, and others.  Most recently in 2025, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced a policy recommendation for spatial repellents, an innovative prevention tool to help fight malaria and other insect-borne diseases. The WHO endorsement of spatial repellents such as the SC Johnson Guardian™, which provides protection for up to one year, supports SC Johnson’s efforts in the push to eradicate malaria
