SC Johnson Announces Local Production of Dengue Prevention Tool in Argentina
- SC Johnson Guardian™ spatial repellent approved for distribution in Argentina
- New high-speed line in Pilar can produce up to 20 million units annually
- Expansion supports efforts to address growing dengue risk in Latin America
PILAR, Argentina, May 6, 2026 – SC Johnson, maker of pest control brands such as OFF!®, Fuyí® and Raid®, today dedicated a new high-speed manufacturing line in Pilar, Argentina, to produce SC Johnson Guardian™, a dengue prevention tool. The new line will have the capacity to produce up to 20 million units annually.
SC Johnson Guardian™ is a spatial repellent designed to help reduce the risk of dengue and other insect-borne diseases. Studies have shown that the tool can provide protection for up to one year. It is designed to be simple, affordable and effective, with no behavior change required, and is a not-for-profit initiative for the company.

Dengue remains a persistent and growing public health challenge in Latin America. In 2024, the region experienced its largest recorded outbreak, with nearly 10 million cases reported, primarily in Argentina and Brazil. While cases have declined, dengue remains endemic and continues to put millions of families at risk each year.
SC Johnson Guardian™ is now registered for distribution in Argentina, Brazil and Colombia. The company worked closely with the Government of Argentina to support local manufacturing, helping expand access to dengue prevention tools across the region.

SC Johnson has operated in Argentina for nearly 70 years and has worked with local partners for more than a decade to support dengue education, prevention campaigns and access to repellents and tools. This effort builds on the company’s long-standing investment in insect science and public health, including more than $120 million to develop, test and manufacture SC Johnson Guardian™ on a not-for-profit basis.

In 2025, SC Johnson also launched a high-speed manufacturing line for Guardian in Nairobi, Kenya to support malaria prevention efforts. To date, the company has partnered with Ministries of Health and public health organizations to deploy the tool in more than 10 countries.
