We are Building on Decades of Expertise

For over 60 years, SC Johnson has been working to help protect themselves from insects, including those that may spread disease.

The SC Johnson Center for Insect Science and Family Health™

For more than six decades, we have been working to understand insects, reduce the annoyances they cause and help prevent the diseases they may carry. We opened our first insect research centre in 1957, the same year we launched our first insect repellent.

Today, the SC Johnson Center for Insect Science and Family Health™ has two main priorities: product evaluation and development, which focuses on creating personal and area repellents and insecticides, as well as applied entomology research, where researchers study insect behaviour and work to identify the best insect-control strategies.

Both areas are supported by a world-class insect-rearing facility known as the Insectary, which houses about 20 species of insects, including the mosquitoes that can transmit malaria, dengue and other diseases.

Research from our insect scientists informs our efforts to help address the spread of insect-borne diseases around the globe and educate families about how to protect themselves.

Our commitment to insect science

Building on 60+ years of insect research, our SC Johnson Center for Insect Science and Family Health™ is one of the largest private, urban entomology research centres in the world.

The war against mosquito bites and other household pests

As the world’s leading marketer of household pest control products, we take the threat of insect-borne disease seriously.
