Update on SC Johnson People in Ukraine and Russia

SC Johnson is deeply saddened by the invasion of Ukraine. We hope for a peaceful resolution as soon as possible. Since this crisis began, our priority has been the safety and well-being of the 330 SC Johnson people and their families living in Ukraine and Russia who are directly impacted by this war.

In Ukraine, we have taken several actions to support the 130 SC Johnson people and their families, including:

  • suspending our operations in Kyiv at the outbreak of the war to keep our colleagues out of harm’s way. We have since restarted basic operations in Western Ukraine on a voluntary basis at the request of our employees. We maintain a close watch of the situation on the ground with a view to immediately suspending these operations to ensure the safety of SCJ people
  • providing financial assistance including continuation of salary and benefits.
  • providing access to essential needs such as food and clothing.
  • helping to facilitate relocation for those that desire to do so.

Since the start of this crisis, we have been humbled and inspired by the compassion and generosity of SC Johnson people around the world, both in assisting their colleagues in Ukraine and addressing the wider humanitarian crisis.

Thus far, SC Johnson has donated more than $700,000 to Save the Children, the Red Cross, UNICEF and other locally based organizations to provide Ukrainian children and families with immediate aid, such as food, water, hygiene kits, social support and cash assistance. In addition, we are matching every $1 donated by SC Johnson people around the world to Save the Children.

In Russia, we feel we have a deep obligation to stand by our colleagues and support the livelihoods of the 200 SC Johnson people and their families there, so long as we can do so safely and lawfully. We have scaled back our operations to a limited assortment of products available in Russia. At the same time, we are making no new investments, and we have suspended all advertising. We are complying, and will continue to comply, with all sanctions and laws related to this conflict.

These decisions are about the well-being of SC Johnson people. As a family company of more than 135 years, we stand by our colleagues and are committed to how we can best support them and their families.

We will continue to do what we can to support those most in need during this incredibly difficult time and hope for a swift and peaceful resolution to this crisis.
