RACINE, Wis., May 15, 2012 – In celebration of Earth Day, SC Johnson recently held a recycling event to help employees, their families and company retirees get rid of clutter while protecting the environment. The event, organized by employees in the company’s Business Process & Technology and Product Supply Environmental Operations groups, promoted safe disposal of personal used electronics and other hard-to-dispose of items.
“The success of SC Johnson’s annual employee Recycling Program really demonstrates that everyone at the company shares in a commitment to the environment,” said Kelly M. Semrau, Senior Vice President – Global Corporate Affairs, Communication & Sustainability. “In our eighth year with this initiative, more than 25,000 pounds of materials were safely recycled thanks to the hard work of the organizing team as well as to the commitment by employees to doing what’s right for the environment.”
Year after year, the event continues to be a success. More than 25,000 pounds of personal computers, printers, scanners, monitors and other electronics were safely recycled. In addition, other hard-to-recycle items, such as personal used eye glasses, cell phones, thermometers containing mercury and small electronics, were also accepted for safe disposal.
