Bookplates: Free Printable | Family Economics

By Cathe

Whether you or your child have a large or small library, if you’re like me, you enjoy sharing your favorite books with friends and family. A nice way to identify and keep track of those books is to place a bookplate inside each so others can be reminded to return them when finished.

Bookplates in general have been around likely as long as home libraries and are usually pasted to the inside front cover a book. They also make good labels for school notebooks.

To access the free PDF file for printing the bookplates shown below, simply click here to download. Print the file to full sheet label stock and trim out each label. Make extras to keep on hand, share and gift.

These designs for children are modified artwork of bookplate designs from the turn of the twentieth century and just right for the young book enthusiasts. Package up sets of bookplates to gift along with books to a child, as a gift to your child’s teacher or as classroom party favors.

For even more free printable bookplates see my blog post here!

I remember that my Mother told me when I was just a toddler that she would read to me everyday {Before I could even talk}. One day she said I was pulling at her dress holding a book, she said she didn't have time to read to me and I looked up at her and said mean, mean Mommie. Those accordinng to her were the first ones that I spoke... I used to have a book in one and and washing dishes with the other. I usuelly have a book by my chair, in the bathroom. in the car and in the bedroom. No one understands how I can read so many different books at the same time, but I can!!!

My Mom's copiy of A Child's Garden of Verses and her copy of Furred Animals of Australia (she saw a koala for sale at a farmer's market when she was a young woman but her parents said no way). The drawings in both books are magnificent. I remember looked at both books and being mesmerIzed by the colors of the plates.

I read voraciously as a child and still. Picking a favorite is impossible. We had a dollhouse in our backyard with electricity and I would dream about having my own library for the neighborhood kids to check out books. At one point I had 100 horse books.

Such lovely book plates. One of my favorite oldies is a book of poetry called, Hailstones and Halibut Bones. It's all about colors....beautifully written and simply illustrated.

These are beautiful. About ten years ago, my son was assigned this project: count the number of books in your home. Can you believe we had to stop at 2,000? We are definitely readers. My favorites were the "Little House" books written by Laura Ingalls Wilder.

These are too cute! My favorite book when I was little was Charlott's Web. I just kept checking it out at our schools library. Also in 4th grade we had the best teacher, Mrs. Thompson. She would read all of the Little House On The Prairie books to us.

I loved the book Heidi, by Johanna Spyri. Made me want to run off to Switzerland and roam the mountains with a loaf of crusty bread and a hunk of cheese.

These are so sweet. My dad always put bookplates in the books he loved. I treasure having them now. I will be sure to print some of these for my boys to start claiming their own books. Thanks for sharing these!

Darling book plates, Cathe! I made well-received gift-sets from the collection you offered long ago with the German animals--and that was my first exposure to WorldLabel as well (I'm now a devotee!) These make me think of my favorite books as a child: "The Boxcar Family" and "The Five Little Peppers". Then on to "Little Women", "Little Men", and "Jo's Boys"---great memories :-)

So cute, Cathe! I especially like the bunnies. I've loved libraries forever! Some of my earliest memories are of walking with my brother and getting books on his card - my favorite - The Five Chinese Brothers. A few years later, it was Jonica's Island. A few years ago, I was so pleased to find a copy of Jonica's Island at a book sale. I think I might just put the 'girl in the book' plate in it. Thanks for sharing these!
