Motto Board | Family Economics

By Cathe

Simple sentences, quotes, verses and poems can give anyone’s day new perspective, their thoughts a good challenge and their heart encouragement. Often referred to as mottos, pondering these words can be a part of your family’s everyday ritual when shared on a community motto board.

A motto board can be as simple as a dry-erase board, chalkboard or sticky notes on the refrigerator door. Changed every few days, allowing a day or so for each to be absorbed, a motto board can become a tradition in the household and a positive empowerment for all who dwell on it.

Mottos can be written by one person or by any in the household, each taking turns or just writing when they feel compelled. If you have a special favorite, type it large in a strong font and print to paper to frame. No graphics necessary.

Here are a few of my favorites to get you started. You can find more by searching the internet for inspiring quotes, verses, mottos and sayings.

Because nice matters.

I may not have much, but I always have enough to share.

Kind words make good echoes.

Every day of your life is an opportunity to be a blessing to someone. Ethel Chadwick, radio host

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

The happiest people don’t have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything they have.

A smooth sea never made a skilled mariner.

You are much stronger than you think.

Work hard. Stay humble.

Life is a balance of holding on and letting go.

It’s a good day to have a good day.

Be the change you wish to see in the world.

You can have it all, just not all at the same time.

Never let success get to your head. Never let failure get to your heart.
