Strawberry-Blueberry Poppy Seed Salad | Family Economics
By Erin
Memorial Day is just around the corner and as you prepare to host a backyard bash or decide what to bring to the neighborhood block party, I’d like to share this spirited, patriotic and downright delicious fruit salad.
The colors of the salad bring a warm sense of country, community and family while the flavors of the Poppy seed dressing jazz up the fruit just enough, without compromising its fresh qualities.
It’s also so easy to make that even the kids can do it! Younger kids can help toss and older kids can make this entire salad on their own, having proven that they can cut strawberries safely.
Ingredients
1/2 pound strawberries, trimmed and quartered
1 pint blueberries
2 cups chopped peaches
3 tablespoons store-bought poppy seed dressing
Directions
Place the quartered strawberries, blueberries and peaches into a serving bowl and toss gently. Pour the dressing over top and toss gently again. Keep chilled until ready to serve.
Makes six to eight side dish servings.
What’s your favorite Memorial Day side dish?
