Pretty Jewelry Bowls | Family Economics
By Cathe
Jewelry bowls work great on a dresser. I like to use mine to drop jewelry into when I want a safe place to put it until it can be organized. Bowls can be made from many different types of recycled items such as small painted or decoupagéd wooden salad bowls, shallow teacups, assorted vintage desert bowls, and more.
I had a few sweet little vintage-cut glass bowls that I found at our local recycle area, but you can often find them at thrift stores and flea markets. Cut glass bowls are pretty as they catch and reflect light but I wanted to make mine a bit more exciting to hold some of my costume jewelry.
I took three different bowls and painted the back cut sides with acrylic craft paint formulated to work with glass. I used green glitter paint on one, layering a few coats before finishing with a similar green solid paint. I painted another with a pink pearl color and the last with a blue satin. They turned out great and the different cut designs in the glass were more emphasized than before.

Have a jewelry organizing idea you’d like to share? I’d love to read it!
